An Introduction to HDInsight

Chris Schmidt, Senior Business Intelligence Consultant Pragmatic Works

Microsoft has recently released HDInsight, which is an Apache Hadoop based solution in Azure for big data. Unlike traditional SQL Server, HDInsight can handle either structured or unstructured data and can provide this data to SSAS, PowerPivot, PowerView, or Excel. In this session, we'll talk about what HDInsight is or isn't, and how we can use it for analysis and visualization to gain new insights into data that was previously much more difficult to work with.

About Chris:
Chris is a Senior Business Intelligence Consultant at Pragmatic Works with more than 5 years experience in developing business intelligence solutions. He lives in Denver, CO and is an active member of the SQL community.
